It’s that time of year. Students are counting the days before school ends and summer begins. That means camp season is almost here on the Roane State Community College campus.
June 5th through June 9th the Cumberland Business Incubator (CBI) will host the Tennessee Code Academy Camp. This camp is for middle school and high school students who are interested in computer coding, development of apps, etc. There are still spaces available. More details are available elsewhere in this newsletter.
June 19th through 23rd is Make Camp. This is the 4th year that the CBI will host a group of campers in the Maker Space where they will learn about 3D printing, electronic circuitry, laser engraving, wood working, embroidery, solar eclipse viewing, photo enhancement software, plants that survive without a lot of water, and a long list of other things. The camp filled quickly with many campers coming for a repeat year.
During the weeks of July 10th, 17th and 24th Roane State Community College will host a 3 week Verizon Innovative Learning program for middle school age girls. RSCC is one of only 5 colleges across the county that has been selected for this Verizon event. The camp will provide girls with the opportunity to learn more about Science, Engineering, Technology and Math (STEM) including coding, design thinking, social entrepreneurship, storytelling and augmented reality. We have room available for more young lady campers. Learn more about the camp below and at www.weneedmore.com.
Summer won’t be a quiet time on campus. If you know of any young people interested in having fun and learning through a technology camp experience this summer, please spread the word! Our campers are future RSCC students, your future employees and future leaders.
Have a great summer – we will!
