If It Were You…

IF IT WERE YOU THAT WAS REPLACED IN YOUR COMPANY, WHAT WOULD THE NEW CEO CHANGE? 

We’ve all seen it. A new leader comes into an organization and starts making changes. Very few leaders are brought in to keep things running the way they have been. They’re brought in because something must change.

But what if it were you being replaced?

It doesn’t matter if you’re the CEO. Change “CEO” to “Owner” or whatever you call yourself. If you were to get kicked out and replaced, what would the new person change?

It’s a wonderful, awful question.

It’s wonderful because it gives you a new perspective to look at your company.

It’s awful because you probably have the answer. You already know what needs to change in your organization. And if you could start again—if you were the new leader—you’d make those changes.

This question gets to the heart of where you know things are now and where you know they should be. That gap in where the business is today and where you know it could/should be becomes a pit in your stomach. It grows week over week, month over month.
