Join Marcia Hiltabidle as she teaches the safety & basics of our Brother Innov-is 2800D embroidery machine in two easy sessions, held on January 16th & 23rd, 2025 from 1-4 pm CT. This machine offers an oversized color LCD touch screen, a 10 inch x 6 inch embroidery area and precise stitching for all your sewing, quilting, and embroidery projects. Once you successfully complete this class and become a Maker Space member (minimum 1 month membership) you may bring your own materials and use the embroidery machine during Maker Space open hours.

Join instructor Greg Wood as he guides you safely on use of the wood turning lathe to complete your own project of a pen or seam ripper. Once you complete this workshop, you will be ready to move on to other project classes and become a member of the Maker Space. Membership is $40 per month or $10 per day. Closed toe shoes are required in the Maker Space.
Eye and ear protection are recommended (we have both available). For safety reasons, no loose-fitting clothing and no hanging jewelry when working on the lathe.

In this Safety and Basic Use class, learn to use a laser cutter to cut, etch, and engrave designs in a variety of materials. Work with acrylic, wood, paper, cardboard, leather, etc. Using graphic software like Inkscape, cut intricate designs and engrave highly detailed images at the touch of a button. The sky is the limit with this simple and versatile tool!
Once you successfully pass this class, you can use this equipment for creating your own projects at the CBI Maker Space as a member during open volunteer hours for only $40/month. Closed toe shoes are required to safely use this equipment.

Import vector (outline) designs from graphic software such as Inkscape into Sure Cuts A Lot, the software used to control the vinyl cutter. Next, use the CNC vinyl cutter to cut an adhesive vinyl sheet into professional looking signage or heat transfer vinyl for heat pressed materials.
No prerequisites required. Close-toe shoes are required in the Maker Space.
