The next time you use your computer to read an email or download a movie on Netflix, or use an app on your phone, think of the technology behind it and the geeks who developed it.
Being called a Geek today is a compliment, a high compliment, not like when I was in school. Tech companies are in heavy competition to develop the newest most advanced products. As the world becomes more and more dependent on technology, those that understand and develop it are in high demand.
The ability to code is one of the most desirable qualities in today’s workforce and can lead to the highest paying jobs. Is Workforce Development a concern in your area? Do you speak the lingo, or have you ever tried your hand at coding? The Cumberland Business Incubator is offering a safe and supportive environment to learn a bit about coding next week. There will be a computer lab set up and a number of tutorials available to choose from for an introduction to coding or website development.
The CBI will be hosting One Hour of Code the week of October 13-17, in an effort to introduce students and adults to the world of computer coding. There will be female only time slots as well as time slots for anyone interested in learning something new.
There are times lots available by reservation by clicking here or calling 931-456-4910.
See you in the CBI computer lab next week!
